On Wednesday, 16th August, 4 -7:30 pm, over 100 people gathered to reflect on the partition of India, its impact on British Asian communities and how we can commemorate the history and legacy of one of Britain’s most significant empires in the public realm, at London’s City Hall.

Members of the Remembering Partition Advisory Board shared initial visual concepts of ideas for a memorial and invited the audience to provide their comments and suggestions.

We also introduced a digital and physical heritage trail that documents the narrative of the British presence in India, highlighting the significant historical, political, and social contributions of South Asian individuals in London after World War II.
